From ends of the earth, we’ve all banded together this past year. The inaugural year of I Support the Girls. A chain of bras has connected people of different faiths, economic statuses, employment, and more in the quest to increase the dignity of women who span those same demographics. We’re all intertwined by a string of loving-kindness and generosity. For this, we can’t begin to measure our gratitude, even with our most expert of bra fitters! Thanks to our wonderful network of global affiliates and donors, we’ve clasped the globe in our network of caring, established after just one year!
But as the clock winds down on 2016, the need for bras and menstrual products for low income women in need has no end in sight. Winter is an especially fraught time for homeless women in some regions of the world, including risks of hypothermia, frostbite, flu, and other cold weather-related ailments. Yet, one of the most overlooked dangers is depression. In a season of cold, grey weather, won’t you supply a little color? Bras and menstrual products can increase health benefits, self esteem, dignity, and value.
Donations of bras, maxi pads, tampons, or money, can bring a little warmth to winter. While we sometimes get a little silly building our #MaxiMenorah, hanging garlands of bra-lands, designing a #TamponTree, or decking the halls with bras of holly, the mission of I Support the Girls is serious.
Shelters across the country are trying to accommodate an influx of homeless clients, and are finding the need great for supplies of all kind. With your help, we can keep menstrual products stocked, and provide an uplifting gift of a bra for a woman or girl in need. In just one year, thanks to your efforts, Support the Girls has donated over 80,000 bras and well over 200,000 menstrual products.
During this holiday season, won’t you please consider a special donation of bras, menstrual products, or a financial gift to I Support the Girls to help this especially vulnerable population during winter? Want to start an affiliate? Drop us a line! Together, we can make the New Year of 2017 a brighter year for everyone.
